Garden Tips
Here are some tips for
terrific-looking plants in containers.
Set pots on bricks, which gives them better drainage and
discourages slugs from slithering up.
Be sure your container has a bunch of drainage holes. You can
drill additional ones in plastic pots easily and with a masonry bit in ceramic
ones also.
Work and slow-release, granular fertilizer into the soil every
spring or when you re-pot.
Water your containers weekly with a liquid fertilizer. Add a
handful of Epsom salts to a bucket of liquid fertilizer to promote blooms. Do
these every few weeks.
Soil and plant roots heat up in the summer, so if a container
is in the sun it's likely to need water every day. If it is really hot, plants
might need a second drink in the evening.
